Talking Credits

Credit Usage

How Memory Clone measures AI usage and keeps credits tied to real generation cost.

Credits are your AI wallet

Memory Clone treats Talking Credits as the account balance used for clone conversations and clone-building AI work. 100 credits represents $1 of AI usage budget.

Short replies should cost less

A short clone reply is not charged as a fixed full credit. Usage is calculated from the actual AI request cost for the selected model, then converted back into credits.

Real cost, not token display

The app may show a rounded credit balance for readability, but the server records usage from actual model billing inputs and outputs. Users do not need to manage or understand token counts.

Hard spending guardrails

Each chat request has a maximum credit cap so one unusually large generation cannot drain an account beyond the configured safety limit. If a request would be too expensive, Memory Clone can stop it and ask the user to shorten or split the message.

Server-side source of truth

Credits are charged only by authenticated Memory Clone server endpoints. The desktop app cannot grant itself credits or change another user account balance.

Clone creation and upgrades

Building or rebuilding a high-quality clone can use AI analysis work. When enabled, that cost is charged from the same credit wallet and shown before the user starts the build.
