Quick answer

Memory Clone is a Windows app, currently in alpha, that builds a private AI simulation of a person from chats you export yourself: WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Discord, plus notes. Imported files and the memory index stay on your PC, and cloud AI replies only start after you switch on cloud processing for a clone.

The basics

What is Memory Clone?

Memory Clone is a desktop app that creates an AI simulation of a person from their real messages and notes. It learns how that person writes to each contact and recalls shared memories from a searchable index on your computer. Read what an AI clone is for the bigger picture.

Is a clone the real person?

No. A clone is an AI simulation. It can echo familiar phrases, nicknames and memories from the material you provide, but it does not think or feel like the person, and it can be wrong. The app always shows that replies are AI-generated.

Who can I clone?

You can clone yourself, or someone whose messages you have the right to use. Cloning another living person requires their permission, as set out in our Acceptable Use Policy. Our consent guide explains the questions to think about.

Is Memory Clone finished?

Not yet. Memory Clone is in alpha, which means an early version under active development. You may find bugs, and features can change. We publish updates regularly.

Who can use it?

You must be 18 or older to create an account and use Memory Clone.

Imports and data

Which chats can I import?

Memory Clone imports WhatsApp chat exports (TXT or ZIP), Facebook Messenger downloads (JSON, HTML or ZIP), Instagram downloads (ZIP, HTML or JSON), Discord data packages and your own notes as TXT files. You export the data yourself from each platform.

How do I export my chats?

Each platform has its own steps. Start with our guides to exporting a WhatsApp chat, downloading Messenger messages, downloading Instagram messages and requesting a Discord data package.

Can I send files from my phone?

Yes. In the import step choose Add from phone and scan the QR code. Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network, and the link expires after 15 minutes.

Does Memory Clone use photos, videos or voice notes?

Not today. Clones are built from text: chats and notes. Photos, video and audio, including voice, are on our roadmap, but they are not part of the current app.

How much chat history do I need?

There is no fixed minimum. More conversations over a longer time usually give a more recognisable style, and notes can fill gaps. Our guide on how many messages an AI needs explains what matters.

Privacy and security

Do my chats leave my computer?

Your imported files and the memory index stay on your PC. Cloud processing is off until you switch it on for a clone. Then the app sends only a limited selection of excerpts and style notes needed for the task, through our server, to our AI provider. Whole archives are never uploaded.

Which AI provider do you use?

Replies and Persona Blueprints are generated by language models from OpenAI, through our server. The Privacy Policy explains what is sent, how long it is kept and our safeguards.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. We do not train models on your content, and our AI provider’s API terms exclude training on it. We also do not sell your data or show ads.

Is the local data encrypted?

The app protects your stored sign-in with Windows data protection, but it does not add its own encryption to your local workspace. Turn on Windows device encryption, such as BitLocker, and protect your Windows account with a strong password.

Can a clone reveal private things to the wrong person?

Memory Clone keeps relationships separate. When a clone talks to someone, it uses that relationship’s style and memories first, and it is designed not to bring private facts from other conversations into the chat. In Myself mode, you as the owner can use the full scope.

Plans, credits and platforms

How does pricing work?

You buy clone access (a clone slot) and use credits to talk. Current plans and the active promotion are listed on the pricing page. A service fee and any applicable tax are shown in checkout before you pay.

What are Clone Credits and Talking Credits?

Clone Credits are the monthly conversation allowance included with a clone plan. Talking Credits come from Extra Talking and Mega Talking packs and do not expire. The credit rules explain how credits are spent.

Does buying a plan create or change a clone automatically?

No. A purchase adds clone slots or credits to your account. You choose which clone to create or reactivate yourself.

Which computers are supported?

Memory Clone runs on Windows today. Versions for macOS and the Microsoft Store are coming soon. There is no mobile app yet. Download the Windows app.

Can I cancel?

Yes. You can manage or cancel subscriptions from your account. Our Refund and Cancellation Policy explains your rights.

Grief and wellbeing

Can I create a clone of someone who has died?

Some people use their own conversations to remember someone they lost. If you do, go gently and consider how other family members feel. Our guide on talking to a loved one who died with AI covers what to expect.

Will a clone message me on its own?

Only if you allow it. Natural check-ins are off by default. When you switch them on, a clone may send one message based on a habit learned from the chats, at most one follow-up a week later, and then it waits for you.

Where can I find support if I am struggling?

An AI simulation is not a replacement for people or professional help. Our wellbeing guidance lists free helplines, and you can stop using a clone at any time.

App menus change over time, so labels on your device may differ slightly. Memory Clone creates an AI simulation from the material you provide; it is not the person.
